MISSION

By maintaining and professing faithfully the doctrine of Jesus Christ, by refusing to admit those errors which by the fault of men have crept into the Catholic Church, by laying aside the abuses in ecclesiastical matters, together with the worldly tendencies of the hierarchy, we believe that we shall be able to combat efficaciously the great evils of our day, which are unbelief and indifference in matters of religion.

So you're looking for a church?  Let us be the first to welcome you to the Christian Catholic Church in the American tradition.  You may be asking yourself, what is the Christian Catholic Church and why have I never heard of it?  Those of us in the movement have heard this many times before, hoever, we find that many people develop a profound sense of meaning while being part of our local communities.  Describing the Christian Catholic Church is not as easy as describing Protestant or Roman Catholic denomination.

The Christian Catholic Church (CCC) has no founder or founding date.  On the contrary, the CCC is as old as the apostolic tradition founded by Christ himself. and is in a constant state of being formed.  We follow the ancient practices of the Church, allowing autonomy and interconnectedness.  Most of our communities follow the ancient practices including woman in leadership of the Church and even performing marriage ceremonies for same sex couples.  Diversity and autonomy were weeded out in the apostolic churches of the west after the Council of Trent; independent communities, occasionally with bishops, remained commited to the local church and the radical call of the Gospel.

In America, this Christian Catholic Church tradition arose in the 19th Century with revolutionay priests and laity challenging the power and corruption of mainline religions while being called to serve the people of God, before serving the Church leadership.

BEFORE

AFTER

"We want to guard against Carforism.  Our Church is clean and pure.  Every man is a gentleman. [Every woman is a lady].  Every priest, a sheperd of souls.  The Church is young and small but it is holy without spot.  The size of the Church is less important than the nature and kind of clergy it possesses.  We teach and believe all that is ancient and historic in regards to what the Catholic Christendom teaches."   ~Bishop Paul Francis Cope 1941
